A Letter From Prison!

July 28, 2014

“The Lord’s Work Is Never Done”

That was how my letter from Marvin started (see: Letting God and Letting Others Down for background). I had waited over a week from the time I posted the piece about Marvin before I sent him a copy. I was a little worried how he would take it, even though I had the purest intentions in mind when I wrote it. Anyway, he received it and here is what he wrote back to me in a letter I opened today.

‘Dear George

Hey Bro, after reading your article you posted and looking at the pictures I was brought to tears. I love you guys and miss you. I’m overwhelmed with happiness, you’ve given me joy.

Yes, the joy of the Lord is my strength, has always been. I’ll be working hard to be what the Lord has called me to be.

You’re right, God doesn’t cause us to fail. However, He is all knowing and knew the path I would choose knowing all things work together for the good. True, I’m the prodigal son.

God is doing a work in your life little brother, and I’m glad you’re accepting it. Me too. 🙂

Always ya bro,

Marv’

To receive such a beautiful letter and knowing that even while sitting in prison, Marvin knows he is a child of the King makes this the best of Mondays. I know he could use the power of our prayers, as he’s told me the blackmailing and the violence can get quite bad. Thank you to those who remember Marvin and reached out and wrote to him. I’m sure any encouragement he receives is a blessing.
